Wednesday Hike: Metcalf Bottoms Trail to Greenbrier School and Greenbrier Gap, Plus the Wednesday Hikers Holiday Lunch at Elvira's Café

The morning hike starts on Metcalf Bottoms Trail for 0.7 miles to visit the historic Little Greenbrier School. After seeing the school continue hiking the Little Brier Gap Trail 1.1 miles to the spur trail 0.4 miles out and back to the historic Walker Sisters home. Continue hiking the Little Greenbrier Gap Trail to the Little Greenbrier Gap and junction with the Little Greenbrier Trail. The official hike returns the same way. Total mileage 4.8 miles rated easy. Some may choose to hike a bit more on the Little Greenbrier trail before returning. Others may return on Little Greenbriar Trail 1.9 miles to Wear Cove Gap and walk on Wear Cove Gap Road about 1.0 miles back to the Metcalf trailhead for a total of 5.9 miles.

* This hike includes the optional Wednesday Hikers Holiday Luncheon. Hikers will please inform Larry if you will or will not be attending the luncheon or will attend but not hike. Diners will order from the menu and pay individually. Plan to arrive at Elvira’s Café by 12:30 PM (865-366-2263, 4143 Wears Valley Rd, Sevierville, TN 37862) Drive 10 minutes from the trailhead to Elviras. MENU: http://www.elvirascafe.net/menu).

* To Carpool, meet at the Kroger in Alcoa, 244 S. Hall Rd. (at the SE end of the building, near the old KARM store, and park around the side of the building) at 8:00am. Drive 45 minutes; 54 miles RT {@7¢ = ~$4.00}. Or meet at the Metcalf Bottoms Trailhead, ready to hike at 9:00am. The leader will meet at the trailhead.

* After you register, please send the hike leader an email indicating whether you will meet at the carpool or the trailhead.
