“Gather friends and listen to a story. ‘Tis the simple tale of a simple, strong and kindly folk. Many moons ago, thru main-strength awkwardness, they built the Cabin-in-the-Brier. Their exertions made them very happy, and the cabin they built has been a source of pleasure to all who have come after them.”
- 1942 SMHC Handbook

Here’s an opportunity to “keep ‘em happy” by having a “house cleaning.” We’ll do some yard work and floor sweeping, and we will remove graffiti from the log chinking. We will install a nice, new sign proclaiming, “Smoky Mountains Hiking Club Cabin.” During a break from our exertions, we can learn about the history of the cabin and how it has been enjoyed by club members. Celebrate with a “Wahee! Wahoo! that’ll make the natives sit up and rub their eyes.”

Hike 1 easy mile. Bring lunch and work gloves. Tools provided. Meet at the first parking area on Greenbrier Rd (just off US 321 East Parkway) at 9:00 AM, ready to fill as few vehicles as possible, due to limited parking at the trailhead.

Leaders: Philip Royer & Ed Fleming
Leader contact information is included under Additional Information in the email you receive after registration.
